In conclusion, SEO for blogs is about providing valuable posts for readers.

By doing SEO correctly, site owners can get traffic while they sleep, and readers can get valuable information from your blog.

SEO is an essential part of running a blog, so let's learn about it in this post!

What is SEO?

Before I begin to explain SEO, let us briefly explain the history of SEO the purpose and structure of SEO.

SEO means Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization is the process of making your site more searchable than others when people search the Internet.

Here's a quick refresher on search engines and browsers!

Google's 10 facts

A search engine is a system that searches for information on the Internet.

The following are some examples of search engines.

  • Google
  • Yahoo
  • Bing
  • Baidu
  • Yandex

These are just a few more famous ones, but many more.

To use a search engine, you need a browser

A browser is a tool that allows you to view websites.

I usually use it without thinking about it, but I view websites through a browser.

Next, I will explain Search Engine (Google) and Browser (Browser).

Some of the most famous browsers in Japan are as follows.

  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Safari
  • Firefox
  • Internet Explorer

These are the browsers that I usually use to browse blogs and other websites.

Google's purpose of SEO

  1. Information required by the user
  2. as fast as possible
  3. in an easy to understanding the way

In this post, I will be explaining Google's SEO.

10 Facts about Google

 "Google's 10 Facts and philosophy.

1. Focus on the user, and everything else will follow.

From the very beginning, Google has always put the user first.

Whether developing a new web browser or tweaking the look and feel of our home page, I've always put the user first, not Google's internal goals or the bottom line.

About Google | Google

Just by reading this, you can see that Google exists first and foremost for the convenience of its users.

To summarize "10 facts about Google", Google says (as I understand it) that they are committed to helping internet users access the information they need in the fastest way possible, regardless of their location, regardless of their device.

It also shows that the goal of SEO is to provide users with the information they need in the fastest and easiest way possible.

"To bluntly, the essence of the SEO I do is create blogs with useful content for users in mind!"

How Google Search Works

"At Google, we've made several improvements to provide you with the most relevant answers, faster, and in a format that best suits the type of information you're looking for."

Here's a look at the history of SEO.

Learn what it's been up to in the past!

History of SEO

The following are some examples of SEO practices from the past.

This is commonly referred to as "Black Hat SEO."

List your search keywords

Used to stuff search keywords into titles, headings, and body text to make it easier to hit search results.

Put many backlinks to your blog

Hired an SEO company to put up backlinks to our blog and got many backlinks from satellite sites (sites that wanted to link to).

Copy content

Copied posts and made long blog posts or created many of the same pages in our blog.

Hidden text and hidden links

You can't see it from the screen, but they stuffed a lot of text and keywords into the blog source to make search engines think it was full of content.

It used to be rampant, and the result was that the Internet was full of sites that were not useful to users, such as

  • The content of the blog is primarily irrelevant and useless to the user
  • The same content was being displayed at the top of the search results
  • Valuable content was buried in the bottom of the search results

If this is the case, users will not find the information they need when searching the Internet.

Black hat SEO is an entirely useless method for users.

Google is constantly improving its search engine algorithms to prevent this from happening.

Google considers the following blogs to be "good quality" sites.

Guidelines for quality

  • Create pages with the user's convenience, not the search engine's, in mind as the top priority.
  • Do not try to deceive users.
  • Do not cheat to increase your position in the search engines. When explaining your actions to a competitor or Google employee, ensure nothing to hide. Other points to consider are whether it is helpful to users and whether you would do the same without the search engine.
  • Think about how you can make your website unique, valuable, and attractive. Differentiate your site from other sites in the same field.

It is essential to improve the quality of your blog.

Improving the quality of your blog means providing content that is useful to users.

The term "content SEO" or "white hat SEO" refers to improving your blog's content for SEO purposes.

There are three main things that search engines do.

  • Crawling
  • Indexing
  • Ranking

1. Crawling

Crawling is the process by which Googlebot, an automatic crawler robot developed by Google, travels around the Internet to find websites and analyze information about them by accessing them repeatedly.

Different crawlers, such as "Googlebot-Image" for image search and "Googlebot-Mobile" for mobile search.

"Crawlers are sometimes called spiders. It looks like a spider moving around in a web!"

2. Indexing

Indexing categorizes and registers the information found and analyzed by the crawler in the search engine database.

The flow of indexing can be likened to the following.

  1. The crawler finds the information (website).
  2. Categorize the information found.
  3. Categorized information is stored in a search engine database.

If it is not indexed, it will not appear in the search results, so it is a necessary process!

3. Ranking

The ranking is where the search engines come in.

When a user searches, the information in the database is displayed in relevance to the search term.

One of the ways to get a higher ranking is through SEO.

Google's Algorithm

When determining rankings, Google's algorithm determines the best content for users.

Algorithms are like decision points that determine search rankings.

SEO Basics

As you continue writing your blog and getting used to it, you'll want to do some SEO!

I'll explain SEO basics, the key points of a post, internal SEO, and external SEO.

Recheck the purposes of SEO

I recommend rechecking the purposes of SEO as often as possible.

As a refresher, there are three purposes of SEO.

Purposes of SEO

  • Get the information you need
  • as fast as possible
  • in an easy to understanding the way

When you're running a blog, you want to make money, so it's easy to think about getting your site to the top of the rankings right away, but the results will come later!

The first thing you need to do is provide helpful content for your users.

You'll grow into a blog that consistently ranks high if you do this!

3 points of posts evaluated by search engines

3 points tips to help you write posts that search engines will understand.

1. Original content

Include original information in your posts, such as the results of your research (questionnaires, experiments) or your thoughts.

Posts that contain information that cannot be found anywhere else will have a higher value.

2. Easy to understand structure and explanation

If your posts are easier to understand than those on other sites, they will be more helpful to users.

Even if the post is written by someone else, you can quote it well and change the structure and explanation of the text to make it easier to understand.

3. Provide credible information

It's challenging to provide utterly original information all the time.

It is important to provide credible information.

If the information is false or unfounded, searchers will misinterpret it as necessary information.

First of all, please refer to the above three points and create "posts that will be useful to users."

5 Basic Internal SEO Strategies

Generally speaking, there are two types of SEO: Internal SEO and External SEO.

Firstly, Internal SEO is about improving the structure of your blog so that crawlers can easily understand the information on your blog.

Internal SEO

  1. Optimize titles
  2. Optimize headings
  3. Improve the speed of your pages
  4. Meta description settings
  5. Set up internal links

In other words, internal SEO is about providing content that is useful to users.

Please read the following post if you'd like to know more about this.

1. Optimize titles

Create a page title with keywords that are relevant to your post.

For more information, please refer to the following.

If you include the search keywords in the title, users will be more likely to find the information they are looking for.

2. Optimise headings

Use h1 tags for headings, h2 titles for subheadings, h3 tags for the following subheading, and so on.

For example, the table of contents for this post has the following hierarchical structure.

    h3: 1. Crawling

    h3: 2. Indexing

    h3: 3. Ranking

h2: Summary

This will make it easier to understand the structure and make the post easier to read.

3. Improve the speed of your pages

A site with slow page display speed will stress the user and make the blog difficult to read.

If you have too many images on your site or don't have SSL, your site will be slow!

On the other hand, a site with fast display speed will allow users to get information quickly and without stress.

4. Meta description settings

When you create a post, include a summary of the post in the meta description.

When a user searches for your post, it will be displayed as the yellow bordered area in the image below.

If you set up a meta description, you don't need to open the post to know if the information is necessary for you.

5. Set up internal links

Each post contains links to related pages (internal links) in the appropriate places to guide the user to the recommended post.

If the content is relevant to the post, users will access the information they need without searching for it.

Internal links are helpful for users because they save time searching for information.

External SEO is to get backlinks

External SEO is about getting backlinks to your blog.

A link is a link placed from an external site to your blog.

For example, at the top of this page, I've included a link to "How Google Search Works | Useful Search Services," which means that Google's site has received a link from my blog (Google has successfully implemented external SEO!).

It is not enough to get a link, and there are some points to consider as follows.

Some points to consider when getting backlinks

1. Backlinks should be natural.

→ Readers should like the post and refer to their blog with a link.

2. The number of backlinks you receive should be high.

→ There must be many people who care about the post.

3. Backlinks from good quality sites

→ Get Backlinks from blogs relevant to your post's content.

From this, it can be seen that there is little need for link building.

If you want to do it, you can set up a social networking button to make it easier to spread.

When users value the blog's content, Backlinks are a natural increase!

Summary

These are the basics of SEO.

Summary

  • SEO is the optimization of the search engines
  • Google's purpose of SEO is to "deliver the necessary information" in the "fastest" and "easy to understand.
  • The basis of SEO is to "continue to provide helpful content for users.

The important thing for SEO is that your blog offers valuable information for users.

SEO is not a difficult skill to learn but rather a way of thinking about your users.
